Montana has a skier bound for the big leagues! As if it’s not enough that he’s from our state, he’s actual a student at our very own Bozeman High. Junior Brock Paddock, Bozeman’s latest skiing guru and “trickster” has been stirring up awe with the skiers all throughout the state…even catching the eye of one of skiing’s biggest, most popular companies. I caught up with Paddock for the real scoop on the next Montana skiing legend! Beau: Who are your favorite skiers? Brock: Henrik Harlaut, Phil Casabon and Jon Brogan Beau: What are your favorite mountains to ski at? Brock: Park City, Utah, and of course Moonlight Basin! Beau: How old were you when you started skiing? Brock: Three…but I switched to snowboarding from six to eleven and I’ve been skiing since then! Beau: What’s your best trick? Brock: Hmmm…I would say a kangaroo flip, which is a double flatspin 900, or, in other words, two flips with two and a half spins Beau: Rumor has it that you’re graduating early? Brock: yes its true I’m graduating a whole year early. I don’t know how to describe how excited I am to be done with high school and start life on my own! Beau: So, you’ve been signed with 4FRNT skis! Brock: yeah the Montana rep contacted me through another friend of mine, so I gave him a call and he ended up being super stoked and offered to get me on some 4FRNT skis. I’m really excited to see how it all turns out! Beau: And, of course, what kind of skis do you ski on? Brock: I ride the 4FRNT park ski called the TNK pro model. Beau: Favorite ski movie? Brock: Refresh, made my Level 1 Productions. Beau: Do you ever get worried about getting hurt? Brock: well I try not to. It’s easy to get hurt when you’re scared so I do my best to stay relaxed and have fun. But accidents are always going to happen, and it’s all worth it in the end. Beau: Jumps or rails? Brock: well jumps for sure when they are big and well built. But skiing at moonlight I spend most my time on the rails, because their jumps are tiny. Beau: Biggest skiing accomplishment? Brock: Getting sponsored by 4FRNT Beau: What's your favorite ski music Brock: Notorious B.I.G, Messy Marv, Wu Tang, the game Beau: Future Plans? Brock: Well as of now my plans are to graduate high school work and spend some time with my family this summer, then move to either Summit County in Colorado or salt lake city UT. Beau: You ski for a production company called Toy Soldier Productions. Tell us about that! Brock: well a few of my good friends are majoring in film at MSU. Previous years we just filmed and made short ski edits. This year we decided to step it up and make it more professional, which is where Toy Soldier Productions was created. Our movie called COME FIND US. It is a full length ski movie filmed all around Montana. The movie was filmed from November through this summer and will be premiering at the Emerson this fall. From all of us at BHS…good luck next year Brock! Be safe, go big, and have fun!
